Position Summary

With generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Trinity College invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities, to begin in August 2018. The Fellow will apply both technical and content area expertise to support faculty projects and shape teaching and research offerings that will enhance our newly-established Digital Scholarship Studio’s role in Trinity College’s academic and research environment.

The desired technical expertise is not restricted to a particular domain or type of technology, but rather should reflect a demonstrated ability to identify, learn, and apply new methods based on prior experience. The Fellow may work in such areas as text analysis, mapping, data visualization, media production, digital storytelling—but we are open to different approaches. The strongest candidates will be familiar with a variety of digital methods, will have extensive experience with collaborative digital scholarship, and will have an awareness of issues at the intersection of digital scholarship, pedagogy, and the liberal arts.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be in residence at the Raether Library and Information Technology Center, a merged organization that houses both the library and information technology departments, and will work closely with the Director of Educational Technology and the Digital Scholarship Coordinator. The Fellow’s primary responsibilities will include developing and participating in Studio programming and assisting with the development of undergraduate credentials in digital humanities. Other responsibilities will vary depending on the background and interests of the successful candidate, and could include consulting with faculty about digital projects, teaching, and engaging in outreach initiatives.

This is a full-time 12-month appointment with a salary of $53,500. Additionally, approximately 20 percent of the Fellow’s time will be allocated to their own research, writing, giving presentations, and related scholarly activities, with access to generous professional development resources.
